Great Commission, Great Compassion
Watershed moments like the ongoing pandemic amplifies. In some cases, we’ve seen it amplify human selfishness and ugliness, but we’ve also seen it magnify compassion and the beauty in humanity. When God calls us to stand up in love, the enemy whispers to sit down in fear. However as this pandemic rages on, we decide whether we choose to amplify love or fear.
Be Open to Listen
We look forward to developing deeper relationships with the Roma leaders through our partnership with House of Mercy. We are aware that we may face cultural hurdles ahead. However, with humility, we embrace the cross-cultural experience as an opportunity for personal and faith community growth as we learn from each other. I encourage us all, with openness and listening hearts, to look beyond a ‘single’ story. We are one in Christ even though we are diverse in cultures. Let us continue to strive towards our key mission, which is to reconcile everyone with God through Christ (Eph. 2:14-18).
Jesus in the Midst
As you may know, our dear brother and board director, Siu Lui Ho, has been battling stomach cancer for some time now. In his own words, “I am now left pondering: how should I face death? Death doesn’t feel natural. I always believed I was made for life, not death. It’s why many of us feel scared and uncomfortable with death though it is inevitable.” As he faces the reality of terminal cancer and his own mortality, he also shared this video on Easter Sunday on the victory through Jesus Christ. May his testimony encourage and bless you.

A Simple Hello
There is hope. Vaccines are on the way. There is light at the end of the tunnel for the COVID-19 pandemic. If there was ever a time when this world needed hope, it is now.
The year 2020 has been like no other; at least not like anyone in this generation has ever seen. There were such high hopes for 2020, but then 2020 came and most of our hopes were dashed from our human point of view. If I could go back in time and change things, I would definitely want to, but I am not the one in control. God is, and everything that has happened this year has happened just the way it was supposed to unravel. God is still in control and for that we praise Him.

A Thankful Heart
In Canada, we celebrate Thanksgiving in October. It is a festive time as extended families gather for a turkey dinner and share all the things that they have been thankful for over the year. It is a joyous time of celebration, but this year, 2020 is like no other. Many health officials across our country recommended that we do not meet for large family dinners in person but to do so virtually as the number of COVID-19 cases continues to grow around the world. Social distancing protocols are still in effect, even though scores of people are paying less attention to these restrictions as people crave for community. People continue to die, and when we analyze the situation, is there anything to be thankful for in 2020?
