Navrongo Missions

A team of about 25 ECG Campus Ministry students & leaders spent the Easter week in the Upper East region of Ghana, outreaching to a community in Navrongo where a local ECG church has been established. We spent our mornings in groups of two, making house to house visits to share God’s word. It was truly a cross-cultural experience for everyone, as the team collectively used at least four languages to share the gospel.

My partner Timothy and I engaged in many spiritual conversations around the church’s neighborhood. We were warmly welcomed to share the gospel, pray for family needs, and lead a few adults and youth to rededications of their faith in Christ. Most of the families we spoke with were from Catholic backgrounds, while others were Traditionalist believers or Muslim. Timothy and I shared our testimonies of our personal relationship with Christ and assurance of salvation through what Jesus did on the cross. For three nights, we engaged the community in evening programs in which the gospel message was shared and many individuals confessed their trust in God through faith in Jesus. Others received prayers of healing and testified of God’s touch in their lives throughout the week.

It’s not by might
But by my Spirit
Says the Lord”

It was encouraging to see over 30 adults and 40 children attend church service on Easter Sunday for the first time. While the majority of the team left Navrongo after 6 days, a “follow-up” team stayed behind for an additional week. Pastor Victor, Elder Godfred and other leaders of the Navrongo ECG church continue to follow up with the new believers on a weekly basis.

This was a special trip for Enoch and I, as Enoch spent 4 years in Navrongo and at this particular ECG church during his undergrad. We even had the chance to visit a nearby village he lived in for a few months during his Community Studies. His love for the people in these communities was evident to me, and I very much look forward to visiting Navrongo again to continue to encourage the local church leaders and members.

PRAYER REQUESTS:

  • Thank God for all He has done (and continues to do) in Navrongo! Please pray for Pastors Victor and Christiana, Elders Godfred and Shekinah and all the leaders of the Navrongo ECG church. Pray for the growth and maturity of the church. Pray Philippians 1:6 over them, that “God who began a good work within (them) will continue His work until it is finally finished on the day Christ Jesus returns”.

  • Pray for the church building in Navrongo as plans are made to get electricity connected this year.

  • Enoch’s application for a Visitor’s Visa to Canada was denied. We plan on applying once more next month. Please pray for favor throughout the whole process.

  • Please pray for Enoch’s family as we have gone through some health challenges recently. Pray for wisdom for the doctor’s and proper medical care, especially for his mother, who will be seeing more specialists in Tamale next month.

Thank you for your friendship and your prayer support. Please let us know how we can be praying for you too.

God bless you,

Janice & Enoch Jabab
